Session Overview
Coach Donny breaks down the tactical triggers and coordinated footwork required to put up a triple block against predictable high-ball pin sets. He explains how the off-blocker reads the pass/set early and sprints across to seal the inside seam.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- Trigger a triple block when an out-of-system pass or predictable set eliminates the opponent's middle and opposite options.
- The middle blocker anchors the center of the triple block while both pin blockers seal tight to the middle's shoulders.
- All three blockers must jump vertically without drifting laterally so they don't collide in mid-air.
Verbal Coaching Cues for Practice:
"Read the high ball early""Close shoulder to shoulder""Six hands over the tape"
Why Recommended for Coaches:
Shows coaches how to train their off-blocker to recognize out-of-system situations and form an impenetrable three-person wall.
