Improve Libero Stance & Defensive Position with VOLLEYBALL PRO Gage Worsley
G
Gage Worsley & Coach Donny Hui • Elevate Yourself
NCAA Champion & Professional Libero (Out of System)
Session Overview
In Part 1 of this pro libero collaboration, Gage Worsley breaks down his defensive ready stance, relaxed hand positioning, and split-step timing with Coach Donny Hui. Worsley explains how keeping tension out of the upper body before contact allows faster reactions to both low-driven spikes and high chest-level balls.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- Maintain a wide, athletic base with knees loaded over toes while keeping arms and hands relaxed at neutral height to transition quickly between forearm and overhead digs.
- Time a small split-step so both feet land on the court at the exact moment the attacker begins their forward arm swing.
- Avoid locking your hands together early—waiting until the ball is read prevents slow lateral movement and stiff platforms.
