Session Overview

In the final installment of his 6-part passing tutorial, Coach Donny explains how to pass serves outside the midline by creating two distinct platform angles. He demonstrates how dropping the inside shoulder and rotating the forearms redirects tough serves back to the target in Zone 2/3.

Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles

  • Always try to get midline first and use your shoulder alignment to angle the platform toward the target.
  • When forced to pass outside your body, drop the inside shoulder (closest to target) and tilt the platform inward.
  • Hold the angled platform completely still through contact instead of swinging across your body.
Verbal Coaching Cues for Practice:
"Drop the inside shoulder""Tilt the platform to target""Hold the angle, no swing"

Why Recommended for Coaches:

Essential tutorial for moving players beyond basic midline passing so they can angle balls cleanly from outside their frame.
