Session Overview

Coach Donny Hui teaches the specific spacing, approach angle, and arm-swing adjustments required for right-side (opposite) hitters. He explains how right-handed opposites must let the ball cross their body to hit line or cut back cross-court without getting trapped by the antenna.

Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles

  • Right-handed opposites should take a straighter approach angle on the right sideline so the set stays in front of their hitting shoulder.
  • To hit down the line from the right side, contact the outside half of the ball and rotate your thumb down slightly.
  • To hit cross-court from Zone 2, open your shoulders to the court and swing across your body into the deep seam.
Verbal Coaching Cues for Practice:
"Don't let the ball cross behind you""Straight approach on the right""See the block before swinging"

Why Recommended for Coaches:

Essential positional instruction for right-handed and left-handed opposite hitters learning how to attack from Zone 2.
