Session Overview
Coach Donny Hui outlines core blocking fundamentals including ready stance at the net, shuffle and crossover footwork patterns, proper hand alignment with the hitter's shoulder, and jump timing relative to the attacker's distance from the net.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- Keep hands loaded at shoulder height in ready position at the net to eliminate slow downward arm swings that cause net touches.
- Use shuffle footwork for short lateral adjustments and a 3-step crossover movement to cover long distances to the pins.
- Delay your block jump slightly when the set is pushed off the net so you reach peak height as the ball crosses the plane.
