Session Overview
Coach Donny details the blocking responsibilities and footwork of the outside (left-side) hitter, covering where to line up relative to the opposing opposite hitter, when to block line vs. cross-court, and how to set the block location for the middle.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- As the pin blocker, your primary job is to set the block location early and hold your ground so the middle blocker can close to you.
- Line up your inside hand on the attacker's hitting shoulder for a standard line block, or shift inside to take away cross-court.
- Reach your outside hand turned inward toward Zone 6 so hard-driven balls rebound into your opponent's court.
