Session Overview
Coach Donny Hui teaches a safe, step-by-step progression for diving in volleyball without injuring knees, hips, or chin. Starting from a low lunge and kneeling progressions, athletes learn to get their chest close to the floor before extending to play the ball and sliding smoothly on their chest and stomach.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- Take a deep lunge step toward the ball to lower your center of gravity close to the floor before leaving your feet.
- Play the ball up first, then catch your momentum with both hands and lower your chest smoothly to slide forward rather than dropping straight down.
- Keep your chin lifted and knees bent up off the court as you slide on your chest and abdomen to prevent knee and chin impacts.
Verbal Coaching Cues for Practice:
"Get low before you go""Lunge, play, and slide""Chin up, heels up"
Why Recommended for Coaches:
