Session Overview
This fast-paced four-corner warmup drill from The Art of Coaching Volleyball gets servers and passers working simultaneously at the start of practice or pre-match warmups. Players serve to designated corner targets and immediately rotate into passing and target roles, maximizing touches and footwork movement on both sides of the net.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- Station servers and passers in all four corners so both sides of the court run simultaneous serve-and-pass reps
- Require players to follow their serve into the court to transition seamlessly from serving to passing and catching
- Emphasize accurate platform angles to the target catcher before increasing serving velocity
Verbal Coaching Cues for Practice:
"Serve your spot and sprint to pass""Beat the ball with your feet""Hold your platform angle to target"
Why Recommended for Coaches:
An efficient, high-rep pre-match or early-practice warmup that combines targeted serving with live serve-receive footwork.
