Session Overview
Coach Chijo focuses on the single most important element of a reliable standing float serve: a repeatable toss at the exact same height and distance in front of the hitting shoulder. He demonstrates how matching toss height allows servers to jab the ball cleanly with the thick heel of the palm.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- Place the toss at a consistent, moderate height directly in front of your hitting shoulder every single time.
- Avoid tossing too high or behind your head, which forces you to swing upward and adds unwanted topspin.
- Jab through the center of the ball using the thick heel of your hand to produce a true, spinless float.
Verbal Coaching Cues for Practice:
"Same height, out in front""Jab with the heel of your hand""Zero spin on the toss"
Why Recommended for Coaches:
Isolates toss placement and heel-of-hand contact for beginners struggling with erratic standing float serves.
