Session Overview
Coach Donny explains the fundamentals and variations of the jump float serve for both men's and women's volleyball, comparing two-handed and one-handed tosses alongside 3-step and 4-step footwork rhythms.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- Use a two-handed spinless toss during your penultimate step for maximum toss stability, or a one-handed toss if you prefer an pre-drawn elbow.
- Jump upward and slightly forward from behind the endline to strike the ball at a higher trajectory over the tape.
- Keep the wrist locked and punch through the center of the ball so it knucklers downward into the opponent's seam.
Verbal Coaching Cues for Practice:
"Toss on the second-to-last step""No spin on the toss""Punch the center at peak reach"
Why Recommended for Coaches:
Covers multiple jump-float footwork and toss styles so coaches can match each athlete with the variation that fits their rhythm.
