Session Overview
This comprehensive 14-minute tutorial breaks down every phase of the topspin jump serve, from starting distance behind the endline to the high topspin toss, explosive spiking approach, and wrist-snap contact. Includes drills to fix inconsistent tosses and net errors.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- Toss the ball with forward topspin in front of your hitting shoulder and 2–3 feet inside the court so you can broad-jump into the strike.
- Match your 3-step or 4-step spiking approach timing to the height of your toss rather than rushing the first step.
- Contact the ball at peak reach and snap your wrist aggressively over the top so topspin pulls the ball down inside the baseline.
