Setting Footwork to help you solve ALL the PASSES!

Session Overview
Four Athletes breaks down the three-step 'right-left-right' setter footwork rhythm that helps setters solve high, low, and off-target passes with consistent timing. The first right step acts as a controlled load step that regulates timing so the final left-right plant always sends momentum cleanly through the ball.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- Use the first step of a right-left-right pattern as a controlled load step to match the height and speed of the pass.
- Keep the rhythm of the final two left-right steps identical on every set to create repeatable release timing.
- Drive slightly forward through the final right-foot step to transfer leg energy into long-distance outside sets.
Verbal Coaching Cues for Practice:
"Load step to time the pass""Consistent left-right finish""Send momentum through the ball"
Why Recommended for Coaches:
Clearly explains the timing function of the setter's first 'load step' so athletes stop rushing under high passes.
