Session Overview

Using 3D court animations, Volleyball Mastery walks through all six rotations of the 5-1 system in match order: P1, P6, P5, P4, P3, and P2. For every rotation, the video shows the rotational starting lineup, the serve-receive formation hiding the setter, the offensive transition runs after the serve, and the defensive switches when serving.

Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles

  • Keep opposite pairs (setter/opposite, two outsides, two middles) across from each other in rotation and hide the setter from passing in all six rotations
  • Use left-side stacking in P4 and P1 variations to get the setter to the target zone quickly without crossing overlap boundaries before the serve
  • Switch front-row blockers and back-row defenders into their specialized zones (setter/opposite in zone 1, libero in zone 5, outside in zone 6) immediately after serve contact
Verbal Coaching Cues for Practice:
"Check your front-to-back and left-to-right overlaps""Release to target on the server's contact""Switch to defensive base as the ball crosses"

Why Recommended for Coaches:

Clear 3D animations that show both serve-receive stacks and defensive switches across all six rotations of the 5-1 offense.
