Session Overview
SD Volleyball Videos walks through all six rotations of a 6-2 volleyball offense, demonstrating both serving alignments and serve-receive formations. Because the active setter always sets from the back row in a 6-2, rotations 1–3 and 4–6 mirror each other while keeping three attackers in the front row at all times.
Core Biomechanical & Tactical Principles
- In a 6-2 system, whichever setter is in the back row becomes the active setter, giving the offense three front-row hitters in every rotation.
- Rotations 1, 2, and 3 use identical serve-receive movement patterns to Rotations 4, 5, and 6 because the two setters and positional pairs start opposite each other.
- On serve, front-row and back-row players start near the center of the court so they can switch immediately to their base defensive zones on contact.
